historian writing his PhD at Columbia University. His doctoral research seeks to explain the decline

of thinking about the end of capitalism from Marx through to debates in 20th century

Britain amid the end of formal empire. His writing has appeared in The Guardian, N-plus-1, and numerous

other venues. Before moving on to the main theme of today's discussion, I asked Barnaby to
