Ten things God expects of godly fathers.

Now, for some of you, you probably have heard the news recently, I became a father.

We've been married for 13 years and we couldn't have children.

And about a year ago, my wife got pregnant and And as of the time of recording, my son, little boy Sammy, a bundle of joy,

was about five months of age.

And so I've been looking into the fatherhood, as well as when I was a youth pastor,

I was aware and around a lot of the

consequences of teenagers growing up without a godly father. I was very fortunate to grow up in a family

where my dad was a godly man. I'm the oldest of five, my grandfather from my mother's side that

had 16 children, and then from my mother's side that had 16 children, and then from

my father's side they had five children and he was a pastor. I've seen good models of what

it means to be a godly dad. But today I won't be necessarily referencing the models that I've seen,

but we're going to take a look at the scriptures. What is the Bible teach about us being a godly father?

Now, the first thing is that every father needs to know the heavenly father.

2 Corinthians chapter 6 verse 18, it says, I will be a father to you.

And you shall be my sons and my daughters, says the Lord Almighty.

See Jesus' term, Father, appeared 65 times in the synoptic Gospels and over 100 times in the Gospel

of John.

It's a very sharp contrast to 15 mentions of God being a father in the Old Testament. So just 15 times in the Old
