Welcome to the prayers of rest podcast.

I'm your host, Asherita, and today we are agreeing with God when he says that in Christ,

we are citizens of heaven.

So take a deep breath and quiet your heart as we become aware of God's loving presence around us and within us.

Today's passage comes from Philippians chapter 3, verse 20.

Our citizenship is in heaven and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.

So let's begin by reciting God's goodness.

Lord God, you are the Lord of heaven and earth. You created it all, it belongs to you. You rule and reign over all

the earth, over the heavens, over everything in the cosmos. And yet you welcome us into your heavenly kingdom as our home. God, what a

privilege it is that because of your love, we're no longer foreigners. We're not strangers to you.

Rather, we are a part of your family.

God, thank you.

Thank you for this great and precious privilege of being your ambassador, of being a citizen, of a place that is not here, but is to come.

So take a moment now to praise God for this reality that in Christ he chose you and he's given you a new citizenship. So regardless of what country you were born in

or what nation you live in, you belong to heaven. And heaven belongs to you. Let's continue now by expressing our neediness.

Lord God, would you help us to keep this heavenly citizenship right before us.

Help us to accept it and receive it at the core of our being,

to make it our primary identity, even before our allegiance to a country or a community.

Goodwin, there's just political chaos around us,

remind us that we are ambassadors of Christ.

Help us to keep that allegiance, first and foremost, in our hearts,

that we would love people of all parties and all
