0:00.0	Welcome to the Prayers of Rest podcast. I'm your host, Asherita, and today we are agreeing with God
0:13.0	when he says that in Christ, we are children of God. So take a deep breath and quiet your heart as we become aware of God's
0:25.5	loving presence around us and within us. Today's passage comes from 1 John chapter 3, verse 1.
0:40.9	See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God.
0:49.0	And that is what we are.
0:53.6	Let's begin by reciting God's goodness together.
0:57.0	Father, what a privilege it is to even call you that our Father in heaven, our heavenly Abba, Dad. How kind you are to not just forgive us and redeem us and
1:19.9	transfer us into your kingdom, but to actually adopt us into your own family. Because of Jesus, we are yours and you are ours.
1:34.2	We are children of God and you are our father.
1:39.4	So take a moment now to praise God for calling you by name and for adopting you, personally, adopting you into his family forever and ever. Let's continue now by expressing our neediness.
2:21.8	Lord, it's tempting when we hear something like child of God to just be flippant about it,
2:30.8	to be so familiar with it that it doesn't really sink deep into our hearts.
2:38.4	And so we ask today that you would just bring a fresh awareness of this great and mighty promise
2:46.0	that is ours in Christ, that we get to be children of God, that we are heirs with Christ, co-ares with Christ,
2:56.6	that everything that belongs to Jesus in the heavenly realm is ours because you have adopted
3:04.1	us to be a part of your family.
3:07.3	I bring this deeper awareness of what that means to be
3:12.1	joint heirs with Christ to all the riches of glory. So as you look on your own life, where do you
3:23.2	see a misalignment between your identity as child of God
3:28.9	and your behavior or your planning or your ways you relate to people? Where are you not acting
3:38.9	as a child of God?
4:12.3	Confess that to him right now and receive his forgiveness. Next, let's seek God's stillness together. And I invite you in the following moments to really let this reality sink into the depths of your being.
