The Red Sox took the crown last night, beating the Dodgers 5 to 1.

In all, they won four of the first five games in an epic battle that included Friday's

18 inning 7 hour 20 minute thriller.

Not only was that the longest game in post-season history,

it was also longer than the entire 1939 World Series. When the Yankees swept the Reds with a four game total of seven

hours five minutes. The Sox will fly back to Boston today and a big parade is in

the works.

Red Sox-right fielder Mookie Betts paid his win forward in the dark quietly by feeding

Boston's homeless. If not for a randomly snapped picture, no one would know he showed up with

a cousin at 1 a.m. when temps were in the 30s

to serve up warm trays of chicken and steak tips to those living outside the Boston Library.

The Red Sox confirmed the story.

Betts hasn't commented.
