Begin with science giving roosters something to crow about.

Researchers at the University of Bonn decided to dive into the often overlooked world of

chicken intelligence, and their findings show that our feathered friends might be brainier

than previously thought.

Using a version of the mirror test, which is a commonly used experiment to see if animals

recognize their own reflections, scientists projected images of hawks where the roosters

could see them.

The roosters then stood quietly as they do when encountering predators while alone.

But when other roosters were present in their eye line, the subjects cried out to warn

them, which the researchers say shows a clear understanding of the potential danger.
