And we begin with lots of buzz about a brand new apple and for once the news has nothing to do with the high-tech company.

Farmers in Washington State are harvesting a brand new variety that comes with the

coolest of names.

It's called the Cosmic Crisp because its red skin is peppered with bright yellow dots that look like distant stars.

It took researchers 20 years to perfectly combine the seeds of the Enterprise

with those of the Honey crisp, and apparently the

weight was worth it. Those who've seen it say it's the prettiest apple in the orchard, with a taste that's

both sweet and tangy.

Already growers have planted 12 million cosmic crisp trees,

which is a sign of confidence in the newcomer.

In fact, some are comparing it to that other kind of apple, saying it'll be a game changer like the iPhone.

The Cosmic Crisp will be on sale starting December 1st in what's being called the largest ever

global launch of a single type of apple.

As a teenager, Jose Altuvay was sent home from a baseball tryout in Venezuela without participating,

because Scouts thought 5 foot six was just

too short to succeed. According to the Wall Street Journal, Jose came back

the next day and demanded a chance and it's a good thing he did.

On Saturday night, the shortest man on the roster became the biggest man on the field.

He hit a bottom of the ninth walk-off home run that sent his Houston Astros to the World Series for the second time in three years.

First pitch for the Fall Classic, pitting the Astros against the Washington Nationals is tomorrow

at 8.08. Eastern in Houston.
