2017 edition of Tesla Daily Unofficial Tesla Podcast. My name is Rob Maurer. Today we're talking about some Tesla Fireings in Fremont, Power Packs spotted in Puerto Rico, and a model 3 Vin update. Tesla stock on Friday closed down 0.03% to $355.57, this compared to the Nasdac up 0.22%.

On the week, Tesla stock closed up 1.4%, compared to the NASDAQ up 0.1%.

Supercharger network update over the weekend we added five locations to bring the count up to

1,023 with two new stations opening up in California, one station in Arizona, one in Alabama, and then that Laramie

Wyoming station that we had talked about as kind of being unofficially opened and then officially

closed is now back to being officially opened.

The big news that came out this weekend is that after annual performance reviews,

Tesla has apparently fired hundreds of workers from their headquarters in Fremont in Palo Alto.

Tesla has confirmed reports that some firings did happen but they have not

confirmed the number. The estimate is anywhere between 400 and 700 employees. If

those numbers are accurate Tesla has about 10,000 employees in Fremont, so that

would be about 4 to 7% of the workforce there.

And Tesla has about 33,000 employees worldwide.

And that would put the estimate for these firings to be about 1 to 2% of the workforce.

Tesla did clarify that this is not to reduce the workforce. They are

still hiring. I think they have 2,500 open positions right now that they're

actively seeking employees for. So this is just turnover rather than reduction.

At this point it's not clear exactly what responsibilities these employees had that are being fired

or if this was targeted to any specific area within Tesla, or if it was just turnover amongst many different positions based on performance reviews.

But there has been some speculation online that a big portion of these or at least a significant portion of these

firings occurred from model three production areas, which if that is the case, this could be us seeing some of the repercussions of the slower ramp-up than what Tesla and Elon has targeted. There's obviously reasons for the delay and if some of those
