So far in our verse by verse study of chapter one, we have been introduced to a woman

named Hannah. At this point in our story, Hannah is childless. Now this

lack of children was a cause of great consternation for her, for you see in those

days it was considered a curse from God not to be able to bear

children. As we join John for the continuation of this study we see that Hannah is

in the tabernacle praying to God about this situation and Hannah makes

a vow to the Lord that if he grants her a son she will give him back to the Lord for a lifetime of service.

But as she is praying, her actions are mistaken by Eli the priest,

who thought her quiet prayer was a result of drunkenness. Let's now join Pastor John as he explains this situation.
