Welcome to Searchlight. A survey through scripture with Pastor John Corson. It is our desire to bring you a

systematic study of the entire Bible chapter by chapter book by book by book.

On our last searchlight program we started our first study in the book of First Samuel.

This is an exciting book that has many lessons for us.

In our verse-by-verse study in chapter one we have so far been introduced to three

characters Elkhana and his two wives Hannah and Penina.

Now the practice of having multiple wives was not condoned by God and we see why in this story.

Panina was mean to Hannah and provoked her because Hannah did not have any children.

Being childless was considered a curse by God in those times.

As we pick up the story today, we see the entire family on their way to Shiloh to worship and sacrifice.

What happens next has great significance to the events that will unfold in the rest of the book.
