Today, the Bible Study podcast starts a study of the book of First Peter.

I'm your host, Chris Christensen.

I have been reading First Peter, or the books

by Peter, first and second Peter, in my personal devotions. I tend to read one chapter of the

Bible at a time, and I happen to be going through the New Testament right now. And so as I was trying

to decide what to do next, I was enjoying the books by Peter, and I saw that we hadn't covered them yet on the show.

So we're going to do this.

It'll only take us six weeks or so to get through all of these, and then we'll go on to something else.

1. Peter 1. Peter and Apostle of Jesus Christ.

To God's elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces

of Pontus, Galatia, Cabadocia, Asia, and Bethinia, who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge

of God the Father through the sanctifying work of the Spirit to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with

his blood.

Christ,

and peace be yours in abundance.

So we get this letter from Peter, and he's writing it to the area that we're predominantly

talking about areas here that are in what is modern Turkey.

I have a little trouble when I'm going to pronounce

Capodosia because we tend to pronounce it that way in the church.
