The second half of these closing chapters of First Nephi then are laid out before us.

And the way Chapter 18 ended was we're at the promised land.

And look at all these incredible things, including or, Nephi is drawn to that.

He seems to be drawn to metallic kinds of things, sort of layman, curious ball.

Where's the oar to make tools to build this ship. here on the promised land look at all the

incredible ore that's here that's what ends 18 19 then begins by picking up on

or being used for the ultimate tool, namely the word of God. It's now that

we're making plates that he will write his record upon. And so he's in a

scriptural mode. He's ended the story mode. He's now entering the scriptural mode and it's the or that is the segue element.

So in chapter 19 he's talking about melting down or making plates of gold so he can record the history of his people.

Then he says in verse 6 and 7,

I do not write anything upon plates, save it be that I think it be sacred.

And that's the law that he laid down back in First Nephi chapter six, right?

Don't waste space on the plates.

Only say the things that are the things of God, the things that will persuade people to come

unto the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to be saved.

That's rule number one of what we're going to write down.

So it's got to be sacred. But then he admits his own possible imperfections. Now if I do air, well I'm not the first, won't be the last. Even did they air of old. Now he catches himself. Not that I would excuse myself because of other men I'm not using

them as justification for my own mistakes but because of the weakness which is in me

according to the flesh I I would excuse myself.

It's an interesting way to say it, but basically he's just admitting, I'm human,

we all are.
