This is the Bible Book Club. I'm Heather and I'm Susan. And we're in the book of First Kings. Welcome to the club.

This is season 11 of the Bible Book Club and we are in the book of First Kings. Now now if you just found us for the first time know

that we call this podcast the bible book club because the bible is the number one selling book of all

time it must be read and it is fascinating to discuss well we make it easy for you to do both. We read and discuss and all you have to do

is download and listen. Do it wherever you are while you're driving, while you're working out,

folding the laundry, or sometimes they get a little deep and you might not be able to multitask

because sometimes I have to go, wait a minute, I'm doing too many things while I'm listening to this,

that we call Bible benders. And if you hear us mention that, that just means it's like our

aha moment. For us, at least. For us. It may not be for you. Right. Well, yeah, and you might have your own Bible benders after listening to us. But when we mention a Bible bender, that's what it means. It's something that we never realized before, something we're seeing for the first time, or something that kind of brings everything in the Bible into focus for us. Which is always a huge faith builder for me when I see that thing that, oh gosh, this never could

have happened without the divine hand of God. All right, let's do a recap then of where we are

and how Kings fits into that bigger story of the Bible. So the Bible is a collection of small

stories that together tell a larger story. The larger story is the entire history of our redemption with Jesus

as the ultimate hero. So in the big Bible, he's the hero. Kings is in the middle of that history.

We are on a journey through God's plan to save us throughout the whole Bible. So how does first and second kings fit into the

Bible? Well, first kings is the 11th book in the Old Testament and second kings is the 12th.

I mention them together because just so you know, they used to be one book. During Hebrew times,

it was one book. Now, the Old Testament has five different divisions,

and we discussed the first division of five books called the Pentateuch,

or the Books of the Law in seasons one through five of Bible Book Club.

The next division is called the history books, which include 12 books.
