Night, First Kings chapter 6.

We're going through First Kings, chapter by chapter, verse by verse.

Tonight we'll just take one chapter.

Last week we did two, but tonight just chapter six.

Very interesting chapter before us.

Last week we saw and were introduced to the king of Tyre. Hiram was his name and he had,

because of his relationship with King David, agreed to provide the cedars of Lebanon for the building of the temple.

So we're going to now see the process begin with the building of the temple in all of its splendor.

But let's pray before we get started.

Loving Heavenly Father, we would ask that you would bless our time together in your word tonight.

Lord, we desire nothing more than to hear you speak into our lives in the time that we do have together in your words.

So, Lord, would you just bless our time?

We pray in Jesus' name. Amen. Let's jump in, verse one. And it came to pass in the 480th year after the

children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel in the month of Zeve, which is the second month that he, speaking of Solomon, began to build the house of the Lord. Okay. Here we're given really the dating

as it relates to the Exodus. It's been 480 years. And it's also the fourth year of Solomon's reign and we're told that he now begins the building of the temple

interesting keep in mind that Solomon is still very young he's only about 24 years old

probably not more than 25 at the very most.

It's also interesting to note that it took four years to prepare just the lumber from the cedars of Lebanon that Hiram had provided.

Keep in mind that David had already acquired many of the materials for the building of the temple. We're going to see a lot of gold tonight. And that gold was already in place. God had forbid David to build the temple,

but he did not forbid David to make the preparations for his son Solomon

so that when it was time to build the temple,

he could sort of hit the ground running.
