Welcome to the Bible Study. I'm Stephen Lawson, President of One Passion Ministries.

And each week I will teach verse by verse through the passage of scripture

so that you can better understand the word of God and

put it into practice in your life.

Join me now as we look together into this section of the Bible.

So let's just dive right into this and I need to begin in a word of prayer.

So Father, as we come to your word, we ask that you would renew our minds, that you would ignite our hearts for you,

that you would capture our wills and direct our steps,

teach us this day the truth of your word.

I pray for these men who have gathered here with me.

It becomes such an integral part of my life and a blessing to me.

I just ask that you would multiply your grace in their lives as a result of this time together. So we pray this in

Jesus name. Amen. Okay, we're in 1st John, Chapter 2.

And today we're going to look at verses 3 through 6,

and we'll see if we can get through this

because there's really a lot of truth.

And I really want us to grasp what John is presenting to us. The title of this

is the expedience of obedience or it could be titled,

Obedience is not optional.

So I want to begin by reading these verses.

Beginning in verse three, by this we know that we have come to know him if we keep his commandments. The one who says,

I've come to know him, and does not keep his commandments,
