So let me begin in a word of prayer. Father in heaven thank you for this opportunity

for us to meet. Thank you for Herb's house, that we have a place to come. Thank you for the fellowship that we love

having with one another both before and after our study and thank you for the

way that you meet with us and open up your word to us.

And so as we look today into 1st John, I pray that you would grant us illumination that only the Holy Spirit can give both to

the meaning of what we'll look at as well as what it requires of us. So I pray for

these men that these would be the best days of their Christian life,

that this would be the time when they walk the closest with you, the time when they are most

deeply rooted and grounded in the truth, the time when they

most shine forth the love of Christ through their lives.

So may that be true of each one of us in Jesus name. Amen.

Okay, 1st John, chapter 2 and today we're going to look at verses 21 and 22. My notes take me through verse 24, but I just don't think I can get past verse 22.

We'll see how this goes. It's hard to be able to chart yourself. The title of this is

knowing the truth. And I want to begin by reading the verses, and I'm going to read through verse 24.

I just don't know that we can go that far this morning.

But beginning in verse 21, let me set this before you again.
