Well, last time when we were together, we noticed that David was given quite a promise.

He wanted to build a house for the Lord. He had good intentions. He told Nathan the prophet. Nathan said, good on you, David. Do all that is in your heart.

The Lord told Nathan, you spoke too soon.

Go back and tell David, first of all, he didn't ask for a permanent structure.

Number two, give him a promise.

And the promise basically consisted of two things. A kid and a

kingdom. You're going to have a kid who's going to build me a house. That's Solomon. He'll take

your place after you. He will be the one who shall build the house or the temple. But then you'll get a kingdom,

and the kingdom will last forever and ever. And so, David, when he heard these things,

was absolutely overwhelmed.

That God would not only make these promises, but speak of a kingdom and speak of his ancestors for days and months and years and generations to come.

And he just said, you know, Lord, I just, I'm blown away.

He didn't say blown away, but that's what I would have said.

I am totally blown away.

And he concluded the chapter in verse 26 of chapter 17,

and now, Lord, you are God,

and have promised this goodness to your servant,

now you have been pleased to bless the house.
