Joshua chapter 6, verses 1 and 2.

Now Jericho was shut up inside and outside because of the people of Israel.

None went out and none came in.

And the Lord said to Joshua,

See, I have given Jericho into your hand with its king and mighty men of valor.

Oh, I love these two verses. Just get the scene. Here's Joshua on the outskirts of Jericho, this

massive city with its massive walls all around it.

And Joshua is trying to think through, how are we going to take this city?

And God comes to him as Jericho is shut up inside and outside.

Like, how are we going to take this city?

And the Lord said to Joshua, I have given Jericho

into your hand with its king and mighty men of valor. Now, if you're about to go into battle,

that's pretty good news to hear from God. God just said the battle is already won. Like before they even stepped foot toward the

city, God guaranteed victory. Now, there's a ton more we could talk about here, including the

strategy that God devised for how to take that city, but I just want this picture in Joshua

6, verse 2, to encourage you today. I obviously don't know what kind of battles you are facing

in your life. I don't know all that you are going

through. God does. And I can't guarantee, and God doesn't guarantee in his word, that this or that

specific battle that you are facing, that it's going to turn out this way or that way.

But feel this in the ultimate battle, in what ultimately matters, God has said exactly this to us.
