0:30.4	And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshipped and said to him,
0:36.2	what does my Lord say to his servant? And the commander of the Lord's army said to Joshua,
0:42.5	take off your sandals from your feet for the place where you are standing is holy.
0:48.2	And Joshua did so. This is one of my favorite passages, stories, pictures in the book of Joshua.
0:58.3	And there's so much we could talk about here. But the reason I read all three of these verses,
1:03.3	I just want you to get a picture. Like I'm going to give you three points in like two minutes
1:08.8	here. But as Joshua is on the outskirts of Jericho, so he's about to lead the people of God
1:17.0	into the Promised Land. And he's about to specifically lead an army into the first battle he has
1:24.2	led them in. And you can just imagine all the things going through. Joshua's mind as he looks
1:30.8	at what's before him. And God meets him in that moment and says at least three things to him.
1:38.9	Again, there's more we could talk about. But number one, God reminds Joshua that he is not alone.
1:47.0	That God is with him. And we've seen this already in Joshua chapter one. We've seen at the end of
1:52.5	Deuteronomy just as I was with Moses. I will be with you and hear this pivotal moment in Joshua's
2:00.4	life and leadership. God is reminding him yet again. You are not alone. And he's telling him second
2:08.0	that you are second in command. I love this. Who are you? Joshua says to this person he sees.
2:15.1	And this person says, I'm commander of the army of the Lord. Like that's who Joshua thought he was.
2:21.5	He thought he was commander of the army of the Lord. But he realized in this critical moment that
2:27.8	he was second in command that the Lord is ultimately in command. And then third, Joshua realized.
2:37.7	Here he is on the outskirts of pagan Jericho with all the false gods and idolatry and immorality
2:45.6	being practiced in that city. And Joshua hears God say, you are on holy ground. Take off your sandals
2:54.7	from your feet. And I just want to encourage you. We could go all kinds of other places in the
