Psalm 55. I want to read verses 4 through 8 and then verse 22.

So I'll start with Psalm 55 verse 4. My heart is in anguish within me.

The tears of death have fallen upon me. Fear and trembling come upon me and horror overwhelms me.

And I say, oh, that I had wings like a dove, I would fly away and be at rest.

Yes, I would wander far away. I would lodge in the wilderness.

I would hurry to find a shelter from the raging wind and tempest.

I read those verses because I'm guessing there are people.

Many people listening to this right now who feel what the Psalmist is expressing there.

Just a desire to get away from all the what seem like relentless challenges or wearying days.

And think about all that's gone on in the world over the last year and the cumulative effect

of so many different pressures, so many different tensions don't we have days or we just want to

like just put all those pressures, all those tensions to be gone. That's what the Psalmist is saying.

I wish I had wings like a dove, I would fly away and be at rest. I just want rest from it all.

Yes, I would wander far away. I would lodge in the wilderness. I would hurry to find a shelter

from the raging wind and tempest. I just want rest and relief. We often find ourselves in this

situation in this world. And I think most of us, especially over the last year in this world,

this well described where we're at, that's why I wanted to read verses 4 through 8 and then jump

down to verse 22. There's so much in the Psalm, but verse 22 says, cast your burden on the Lord

and he will sustain you. He will never permit the righteous to be moved. Can I just read that one

more time over you? And you just hear this. It's the pressures and tensions and challenges and

weightiness and weariness that you may be feeling just to hear this word straight from God.
