Ambassador Bolton to comment on details of the year 2020 the year was

published because there are revelations in the forward that are surprising.

I have familiarity with publishing.

I never published a document that had to be vetted by the civil service, by the national

security apparatus, but I don't think anybody's published even a document that

comes out of the heart of the deepest secrets in Washington, who had to go through

the obstacle course, John Bolden's had to go through.

Early on, you submitted your book for vetting, which is what happens, I understand, when you have a privileged

position with security clearance in the National Security Apparatus in Washington. That is straightforward and then what happened

John? When did it all of a sudden walk into the twilight zone with Mr. Trump making threats?

Well, the process of pre-publication review,

which is in theory to make sure

there's no classified information

in something to be published as a book or an article as a speech.

That process lasted four months and it was very, very detailed and exhausted.

My own perspective was I hadn't put anything classified in the text. I wouldn't do that. I don't want to reveal any secret information. But under various interpretations, the people reviewing the text thought that they did.

So my goal was to work with them, not to change the substance of the book, but to pass muster
