The fires of Los Angeles County and the threat to the population right now

is the story that Jeff tells me is unprecedented.

Jeff, a very good evening to you.

The wildfires you've covered for years.

This is strange to me because it seems to be wildfires

sweeping through what looked to be heavily urban residents and commercial enterprises, not just

an inaccessible forest land or mountain top. The fires started why and why are they being driven in such a fierce

way? Good evening to you, Jeff. Good evening, John. This is unprecedented because of the size,

you know, the scope of these fires, the speed with which they're moving, and the destruction

they have brought about

in a very quick amount of time.

The reason we're seeing these fires right now, the primary reason is extreme winds we've

been experiencing over the past 24 hours.

It's been, you know, winds of 60 to 80 miles an hour with some gusts in high places exceeding

100 miles an hour.

So you add to that very dry conditions, low humidity.

We haven't had rain in eight months.

You have a fuel bed of dead vegetation or dried out vegetation that provides the kindling

or, you know, that leads to bigger fires

and trees and bushes and moves on. And somehow there's a spark that occurs, a flame.

Something ignites all of this. And once that happens and you have something burning,
