I welcome my good colleague Peter Berkowitz of the Hoover Institution, writing his column for Real Clear Politics, about the new right, capital N, capital R. It has other names and Peter's going to

help us explore. Peter, a very good evening to you. The conservatives, old name, are unhappy with

the condition socially, economically, militarily of the present Republic of the United States.

Some of this criticism is well taken and familiar to all of us.

At the same time, the remedies are new to be.

So let us examine two in particular, because reform is rejected as inadequate and part of the problem.

Washington is rejected as inadequate.

In fact, I think it's mocked as the Uniparty.

Yes.

But is recommended by one professor at Notre Dame, a distinguished university, is revolution.

What does that mean, Peter, revolution?

Well, in the hands of Patrick Deneen, who is among those celebrated by the so-called new right,

revolution means, actually it's the title of his most recent book,

regime change, replacing the regime we have, which is based on the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution,

which creates institutions designed to secure our rights, creates a new form of government.

Thinin calls it Aristopopopulism, never mind for the moment what that means.

The point is that his belief, the regime under which we live isn't simply in need of

correction here or there, not even need of returning to our founding principles.

The argument is that our founding principles are dedication to individual liberty and limited

government and separation powers, they're the problem.
