This is CBS I In The World. I'm John Batchwith, Ben and Ben Taliblu, a senior fellow for the

Foundation for the Defense of Democracy, and the author, most recently, of Arsenal, assessing

the Iran-Polistic Missile Program, which is predatory and extremely threatening and capable

of carrying a nuclear weapon if it exists. So we come now to a series of announcements

that get overwhelming because it talks about what makes a bomb. Right now, I'll read

a headline. Iran enriching uranium above 60 percent could prompt Israel's strike according

to an official. The reason I read this, Ben, is not because it's the last word, but recently

I reported that I believe the IAEA had reason to believe there was uranium inside fissile

material inside Iran that had been enriched to 84 percent. 84-60, can we choose between

them and what does it mean? Indeed, the Islamic Republic really

breached the barrier of what you may call highly enriched uranium more than a decade ago

when it went up to 20 percent, which is considered the baseline for highly enriched uranium.

Go be a state that can go to 20 percent enrichment has basically done the lion's share or an estimated

90 percent of the work. Then in 2021, Iran made good on a threat. It made well over a decade

ago and went to 60 percent enrichment. Previously, the regime started with the idea of using

the excuse of 60 percent enrichment to fuel its submarines, but none of them, however,

are running on nuclear propulsion. They run their diesel electric. So again, they're trying

to put the car before the horse. With the 84 percent story, the IEA in late January early

February detected the presence of enriched uranium to 84 percent purity at the underground

nuclear bunker of Fordo, Iran's deepest, most secretive nuclear enrichment facility

buried under a mountain near the Holy City of Gold. Ultimately, this is Iran flirting
