I'm John Bachelor, joined by my colleagues.

That is MacArthur of American Greatness in Andrew McCarthy, writing at the National

Review Online about a momentary mystery.

Christopher Reyes, the director of the FBI, a member of the Department of Justice, an

esteemed lawyer and a man who is in charge of an operation that is vast at the same time.

John McCarthy is the speaker of the House, and Kevin McCarthy has power that is beyond

the FBI's, as have I understand it, the FBI's, is a creation of the Congress.

And therefore this looks like a mismatch, but I learned from Andrew McCarthy's new column

in the National Review Online.

That Mr. McCarthy is demanding, with subpoenas mention, demanding information that is said

to be in the possession of Christopher Re, about the president of the United States, demanding

that that information be turned over to Congress, in particular to the House Oversight Committee

chaired by James Comer.

And he has come with this puzzle.

Kevin McCarthy has a great deal of power.

And right now, according to the news, and your reporting, Christopher Re is resisting

that power.

That seems odd, discordant in a relationship that is so pyramid, and with McCarthy at

the top, how did this come about?
