Autocracy, democracy, two forms of society that exist on the planet right now.

Then there is monarchy. The question is,

monarchy was the older version of government. Is it also the future version of government

that can introduce order and calmness and stability and peace to troubled autocracies and democracies?

I welcome my friend, the publisher and editor of Defense and Foreign Affairs Gregory Kaplay,

writing about these dances of government right now and in history and what is to be done.

Gregory, a very good evening to the democratic societies. That would be the United States and Europe.

We can name others, but those were good examples and the autocracy, the autocratic societies.

Right now on planet earth, I would be Russian, China. We can include the lesser lights of Iran and

North Korea. But in any event, you write very convincingly that they're converging

the way they govern. They're converging to top down. How so, Gregory? Good evening to you.

Good evening, John. Well, the theory of convergence of the two great rival global systems,

democracy and communism was articulated strongly and repeatedly throughout the Cold War.

But it was ultimately decided that one side had to prevail. And of course, democracy prevailed at

that particular time. Larger because it offered a far more fluid, freeform type of government which

enabled nimble decision making it enabled the profit motive to act more quickly than governments
