understanding a river that is vital to the success of Europe for thousands of

years certainly right now, the Danube. The Danube Commission on March 1st, 2024, deprived forever

a membership in the Danube Commission of the Russian Federation.

It's gone.

Not suspended.

There's no membership anymore.

That is a result of the predation in Ukraine.

However, the Danube Commission remains extremely important

to the success of the war and to Europe in general. This is a vast river that Danube flowing west to east and it

empties at Romania into the Black Sea. Teaching me about this is an article

Danube Commission. What is its statement of mission today? Good evening to you

Antonia. Good evening John and thank you for having me on this very important topic I believe

Indeed the Danube Commission is still very much alive. It is established to oversee the

navigation activities over the full length of the river. And at the same time it kind of controls the projects that are going to be built along the Danube to effectively support the navigation of the river in such a way that it is both

efficient and effective and works for environment and all that stuff.

The Daniel Commission was basically created in its current form

after the World War II and at the very beginning or from the very beginning the

Soviet Union which was then a riparian state because Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union, was most important and therefore Russia could be able to maintain that position within the banning commission

because of the Soviet Union being part of the commission right after the World War II ended.
