Cuba made fast progress restoring power to swaths of the Caribbean island

both in Havana and outlying provinces,

even as emergency and grid workers struggled to reach areas

ravaged by Tropical Storm Oscar.

In other words, Cuba got hit by a series of outages of its electrical grid and then came a storm, a tropical storm sweeping

over the island.

It made landfall at a category one hurricane and there are several reported dead a lot of damage this following

I was unfamiliar with this story until it started going out again.

I'd heard over the summer that there were brownouts. Certain

parts of the island would not have electricity for X number of hours. There was

even one colorful scene of a town. it wasn't Havana, outside of Havana, where everybody at night

was crowded around to recharge their phones.

And so the whole town square was a glow with the face of an Android and waiting in line to go on and recharge as best they could.
