I didn't know that I wanted to live through it again when I started reading your essay, but here we are.

When the virus started out, you were in Monterrey, I was in Manhattan.

because I didn't travel there there was one day in April.

There was a video that I saw of the city of San Clemente ordering a

bulldozer to cover a roller skate rink on the beach with sand. It was

grotesquely overdone. Subsequently, dirt pikers came along and cleared some of the sand out and enjoyed it anyway.

But the excuse at the time was we can't have young people congregating because they'll pass on the virus.

That was how I experienced California.
