It is part of the understanding of our universe that it is a star called main sequence star.

I've long said that without understanding its origins.

I welcome Dr. Ken Croswell, most recently writing at Sky and Telescope about main

sequence stars about all stars and how over the last 100 years, the thinking in astronomy

has advanced so that we understand where the sun is and its fate.

In fact, we understand or think we understand the fate of all visible stars that we can

see now.

I go immediately to your article of Sky and Telescope because what I'm learning is the

sun is well positioned for a good, healthy lifetime.

However, there are stars that are nearing the end of their lives and their fate will

be spectacular.

They're called red super giants.

What did we think once upon a time of red super giants?

And I mean a mere 100 or 120 years ago and what do we think now of them?
