Well, I'm very excited for today's guests on the Rush Hour podcast. She is the founder and

executive director of some people advocating for universal health care. It's our pal Kimberly

Sonan. How are you? Good to see you again. Yeah, happy New Year's to you. It's the first day

that the Affordable Care Act subsidies have gone away. Can you tell us what this means to all of us as Americans with our

health insurance or lack of? Yeah, it's not good. You know, this is part of the health care

policy whiplash that Americans have been subjected to for about 40 years, and they've kind of gotten used to it.

And, you know, I was on Reddit this morning, and it's just consumed by panic and questions about,

should I keep my insurance?

Should I drop my kids?

Should I divest from commercial health insurance?

If I drop my plan and keep my underest from commercial health insurance? If I drop my

plan and keep my under 26, what do I do? Are there subsidies or the tax credits going to be

extended in the January session on the Hill for three months, for three years? Not at all. We've already

committed to a plan back in November for the new year. What happens to our money if the plan is dropped? So there is so much confusion and there is so much, I don't know if we have a word for it yet. You know, this is about our health and our livelihoods and our futures. And so

people are genuinely, genuinely panicked. And that's not even going into persons with disabilities,

persons with chronic illnesses, persons who have mobility issues. And so they are really, really frightened about what's about

happened. So emotionally, financially, and also physically, this kind of health care policy

whiplash that Americans have just gotten used to has reached an historic level now.

And so when we get to January or on January 1st today, on New Year's Day,

as soon as business kicks in again on January 2nd,

people are going to be high and dry with no guarantee about what's to come.

And it's not only poor governance, but because health is the most important thing to people.
