Mark chapter 16 verse 8

and they went out and fled from the tomb for trembling and astonishment had seized them.

And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

Now if you're reading in your Bible, when you come to this point in Mark, chapter 16,

verse 8, so Jesus has risen from the dead, you have this realization that the tomb is

empty, and then it says they said nothing to anyone because they were afraid.

And then your Bible will say some of the earliest manuscripts do not include Mark chapter 16 verses 9 through 20.

So this is one of those very rare places in the Bible where the earliest manuscripts don't correspond exactly.

So there are some early manuscripts

that don't include this part.

So there's question about whether or not

this is actually a part of the

of the Bible. Now take-hard, be encouraged along these lines.

Instances like these are extremely rare and they do not in any way change the meaning truth that we see all

over scripture. So we don't need to think, okay, so we can't trust anything in the Bible.

That's that's a whole other thing we could dive into.

We the Bible is absolutely trustworthy as the inerrant if infallible authoritative sufficient true word of God but

that's that's a whole other hours we could spend on that. The reason I emphasize that though now is let's just imagine for a moment that we don't have versus 9 through 20.

And Mark is writing this gospel his specific audience is followers of Jesus who are prone to shrink back from following and proclaiming Jesus because of all the

pressures that are happening to them in the Roman Empire around them.
