Hi everybody, it's Joe Lampel, the Joe Behind Joe Gardner, and welcome to the Joe Gardner

Show.

Today, and next week's show are around two topics I've been wanting to do for a long time.

In fact, they're way overdue.

And many of you have been asking for these topics as well.

I'm talking about crop rotation and cover crops.

They are essential topics in organic farming, and yet they're just as applicable in the

home garden too, as you're about to learn.

Now, part of the delay was in just getting schedules coordinated with the guy I wanted

to have this conversation with, and that is Jack Alger.

Now, while Jack is a guy who flies mostly under the radar outside of the farming industry,

on the inside, he is a rock star farmer, the likes of Elliot Coleman.

Jack Alger is the farm director at Stone Barn Center for food and agriculture, and that

is a very prestigious position.

This is a place that is steeped in history dating back to the 1930s, where Stone Barns

was once a part of a dairy operation owned by the Rockefeller family.

And in 2003, the Rockefeller family donated the ADA property and restored the barns to

form the non-profit Stone Barn Center.
