Hello and welcome to Curiosityness, Episode 98 of Curiosityness.

I'm Travis DeRose, and maybe you're drinking a soda right now.

Maybe you've had a soda in the past and you

picked it up and you looked at it and you thought, man, why the hell am I drinking soda? Where

does this fizzy water come from? This bubbly, flavored, sugary water? Well, that's what we're

going to find out today. I'm having on Tristan Donovan. He is the author of a book called Fizz,

how soda shook up the World. So

we're going to learn about soda. The history of soda, where it came from, how it's kind of

started off as like, you know, sparkling mineral water. And then they used it for curing things

and healing ailments. And then they started flavoring it and put it in soda

fountains and they started bottling it and then Coca-Cola comes along Pepsi comes along. We talk about

the, you know, the cocaine and Coca-Cola. It was actually there. They were putting real drugs in this

thing. So it's a really fun weaving deep story with a

lot of little fun twists and turns to it. So I think you're going to enjoy the history and the story

of how soda came to be. So, I mean, once we'll just dive into it, here is the episode with Tristan

about some soda tristan how you doing man thanks for being here oh thanks for inviting me it's

pleasure to be here yeah heck yeah man this is a this is a fun topic something that uh probably

nearly every single person in the world has had a soda and should be able to relate to this in some regard, I guess.

Yeah, I think you have to hunt really hard to find someone who hasn't tried to say to her at this point.

I think in some places it's probably easier to get soda and water at this point.
