Summary
This is my story. Sometimes when you want to look forward, you need to look back. I know that sounds counterproductive but it's the truth. We don't realize how our past, our childhood, the messages we've received, the trauma we're experienced and the unhealed wounds that we have, impact how we perceive the world in the present time.
Often, to really level up and move forward in your life, you need to heal that past trauma and tend to those past wounds .
That's what this episode is all about. This week I share my thoughts on personal development and what it really takes to make the change.
I talk about how my experiences in my childhood and with my parents divorce results in anxiety, anger and control issues that I didn't fully understand until the last few years.
This is probably the most vulnerable I've ever gotten on the podcast. Here we go.

| 0:00.0 | All right. Hey, guys, welcome back to the kick-ass stepmom podcast. I'm just pumped that you're here. I'm pumped that you're listening. I'm so thrilled about how much you guys have been sharing out these episodes to people in your community. It's not just about step-mom life, guys. This is about thriving amongst the tough stuff. And, you know, that applies to everyone. Stepmums for sure, |
| 0:23.4 | but it definitely applies to everyone. So welcome back. Now, I've been thinking about this week's |
| 0:29.2 | episode for a while now. And I've been on the fence about whether to share it. I'm like, do I share |
| 0:34.8 | it? Is it too much? Is it too deep? Is it too personal? And then I was like, you know what? No, I'm going to do it. It's important. And what I'm about to share with you has been so pivotal for me that if I can inspire even just one person to do this work too, it's going to be worth it. It's going to be worth being so vulnerable with you guys. And you know what? This is my story. |
| 0:56.0 | These are my scars. This is what I've been through. And as I've said in the past, I do have an |
| 1:00.9 | immense amount of gratitude for the struggles that I've been through in my life because they got me |
| 1:05.6 | here. I'm a huge believer in the butterfly effect. And every decision we make and our life affects the |
| 1:11.9 | outcome of our life. And all of the decisions and all of the bullshit and all of the |
| 1:15.9 | struggles that I've been through led me to the life that I have now. So I'm fine with that. |
| 1:22.4 | Now I do have to give credit where credit is due. This episode was inspired by a few episodes I've |
| 1:26.5 | listened to on the Almost |
| 1:27.7 | 30 podcast, specifically an episode titled Healing the Mother Wound. And guys, if you have |
| 1:33.5 | had any issues with your parents or struggle with your relationships with your parents, |
| 1:38.6 | and even if you don't, I highly recommend just listening to this episode. I'm going to link it |
| 1:42.9 | for you. The Almost 30 podcast is not a |
| 1:45.7 | podcast just for people who are above 430. The girls who started the podcast, Kristen Lindsay, |
| 1:51.1 | they started the podcast before they were 30, but they are in their 30s now and the conversations |
| 1:56.5 | they're having are really freaking powerful. So I highly recommend checking that out. And I just want to |
| 2:02.8 | thank them for inspiring me to just really dig deep and do the work on myself because, yeah, |
| 2:09.1 | it's, it's important. It really is important. So I'll link it for you. I'm rambling because I'm a little |
| 2:15.2 | nervous about what I'm about to share, but let's just do this. |
| 2:21.1 | Welcome to the Kickass Stepmom podcast. I'm Jamie Scrimger. |
