church discipline. Matthew 18, 15 through 20, clearly lays out the order of discipline. But my question issue, my question is,

once you reach the final stage of discipline, how should we interact with the individual being

discipline? In my church, we are instructed to treat them as an unbeliever, but Paul uses harsh

language in 1 Corinthians 5, such as do not associate or do not even eat with them. So it seems to be more complicated than simply treating them as an unbeliever.

I understand redemption being the end goal, but also fear that if we do not properly
