And we begin with an eight-year-old girl from Maine offering a big lesson in spreading kindness.

Emma Brennan has had a love for animals ever since she can remember,

and when she found out that not all animals have a loving home,

she decided to create animal art to help them.

Three years ago, she started gluing small toy animals and flowers to rocks and then

hit her work in random places for strangers to find. Each piece had a card that said

find me, post me, re-hide me. One piece actually ended up in Alaska. Emma now has such a big following that she's selling her rocks for between five and twenty dollars

and then uses the money to buy supplies for local animal shelters.

Are you left-handed?

If so, you're in a pretty small group.

Only 10% of the human population are lefties.

And now for the first time scientists have

identified the genes that are responsible for this rare trait and they've

discovered that the gene variation creates a different brain structure which could mean that left-handed

people have better verbal skills than the right-handed majority. This study

involved 400,000 people including nearly 40,000 left-handers.

Interestingly enough, while only 10% of the population is left-handed,

six of the last 12 US presidents were left-ees, including Barack Obama, George Bush, Bill Clinton, and

Ronald Reagan.

We all know that plastic straws get a bad rap for being a major source of pollution.

And there are a number of good alternatives made with paper, metal, or bamboo.
