And we begin with the East Coast of the U.S.

bracing for its first big hurricane of the season.

Right now, Florence is a category 3 storm,

but forecasters think she'll strengthen to a dangerous category 4,

with winds up to 140 miles an hour when she makes landfall somewhere along the southeast

this Thursday or Friday.

So far, all models show the Carolinas taking a direct hit.

States of emergency are already in effect and

residents are stocking up and boarding up in preparation for high winds,

and flooding. The outburst that Serena Williams had at the U.S. Open this weekend is going to cost her.

Yesterday the referees hit her with $17,000 in fines.

As bad as that is, could have been worse. Officials could have

docked her as much as $60,000 for calling the chair umpire a thief,

breaking her racket, and being coached from the stands. The fine will come out of her prize money of 1.85 million

as the runner up to Naomi Osaka in Saturday's final. More than the money though,

Serena says she's upset by what she sees

as a double standard for how female and male players are treated on the court and she is calling for change.
