transgender people began to shift significantly in the United States.

Now this is likely due in some part to attitudes changing about same-sex marriage

and that has boosted the signal of other LGBT issues.

And because of this, many cities have passed ordinances guaranteeing equal rights to transgender individuals.

But any time there's a shift like this and a social issue, there's also a backlash.

Houston, Texas, for example, received national attention when people there voted to repeal their anti-discrimination ordinance

thanks to the efforts of religious groups opposed to the idea of

transgender people using the bathroom that matches their gender identities.

They used a slogan in Houston,
