And we begin with Hurricane Italia now out to sea, but not out of mind.

The surge of water from the Gulf submerged bridges while winds ripped off roofs and

generally made a mess of the northwest coast of Florida.

The Big Bend area took the first and biggest hit, and according to NBC News, some residents

who didn't evacuate were forced to swim out their windows to escape the waves crashing

through their front doors.

The weather channel reports that one river that's dying hatchy, even reversed course from

the power of seawater pushing inland.

Italia then tracked across the state and north, brought a rainy, windy mess to Georgia

and the Carolinas before moving out over the Atlantic last night.

There's a miracle among the misery of the tragic Maui wildfires.

On a section of front street in the town of Lahaina, every single structure is now a

heap of rubble and ash, except one.

A single house with a red roof and green porch stands virtually untouched as if it was photoshopped

in.

According to the Historic Hawaii Foundation, this miracle house was built nearly a

century ago, relocated, then remodeled, which might have ensured its survival.

The owner says the house was built of California Redwood, a tree known for its superpower

of being fire-resistant, but on top of that had a commercial-grade steel roof and fire-safe
