And we begin with Floridium's hunker down and brace for impact. As of this recording,

forecasters predict Hurricane Italia will wall up the state's west coast,

sometime between 6am this morning and noon as a category three storm with winds topping 120

miles an hour. Even more concerning, the possibility of 12 inches of rain in some places.

And if Adalia hits at high tide, a surge of seawater up to 12 feet high.

Thousands of coastal residents have been ordered to higher ground.

Schools are closed and the airport in Tampa stopped operating yesterday and will remain

shuttered until at least tomorrow. Adalia will be the first storm to hit Florida this hurricane

season. But as the AP reports, it's only the latest in a string of recent natural disasters,

including wildfires in Hawaii, Canada and Greece, the first tropical storm to hit California in

84 years and withering floods in Vermont. Those not under the clouds of Adalia are in for a rare

lunar trifecta. Tonight, the moon will be full, super, and blue all at once to create quite a sight.

And that celestial celebration known as a super blue full moon won't happen again for another

14 years. Why all the superlatives? A super moon occurs when the moon is full and orbits at or

near its closest point to earth. A blue moon is the somewhat deceptive name for the second full

moon in a calendar month. It doesn't happen often, hence the saying once in a blue moon.

To be clear about the color, it's not blue and never is, but it will be extra bright.

So tonight, look skyward and check that box for all three. Full, super, and blue.
