And we begin with 12-year-old Gavin Weir making sure the baseball world knows his name.

The South Dakota Southpaw threw a no-hitter at the Little League World Series Wednesday night to lead his Sioux Falls team to victory over California.

But that's only part of the story. Gavin has allowed only a single hit in the last eight games he's pitched

and struck out 114 of the past 132 batters he faced.

Did we mention he's also a breakout star at the plate? That 2A talent is led to the inevitable comparisons with

Shoheotani of the Angels and the Little League Big League celebrity duo actually spent time together in Williamsport earlier this week.

As for the series, the semis are tomorrow and the championship game is Sunday. It'll all wrap up just in time for Gavin to start the seventh grade.

California is reportedly poised to significantly up the ante when it comes to COVID vaccines.

Although many cities have imposed shot requirements, the entire state may soon require shots of anyone wanting to go inside public places.

It would be the first in the nation to do so. According to the Sacramento Bee, the law would apply to restaurants, gyms, arenas, movies, you name it.

The only exceptions children too young to get the vaccine and those with valid reasons like religion or medical issues to skip the shots.

The bill is currently in the legislature and according to the Bee, if passed as written, could potentially take effect immediately.

What's in a name? A lot if you're Kanye West or a COVID drug. First Kanye, who just filed paperwork to change his name to yay. That's it, just yay.

He cited personal reasons and out of Pfizer and its head scratching decision to name its vaccine, Comunity, which is a mashup of COVID, Messenger RNA, and Immunity.

A lot of time and energy goes into finding an easy to say, easy to remember Monica and experts in the marketing industry say Comunity is neither.

Moderna seems to be fairing a little better in the court of public opinion. It's shot will be called Spike Vax.

Among the Americans desperate to get out of Afghanistan before next Tuesday's deadline, 14 students from the Cahon Valley School District in San Diego, California.

The kids range in age from elementary to high school and had traveled with their families for summer vacations to see grandparents, cousins, and other relatives back in May and June long before the trouble started.

US lawmakers say they're working hard to get them out. As we've been reporting, a military group known as the Taliban took over Afghanistan last week and has given the US government until August 31 to airlift its citizens to safety.

At last count, State Department officials put the number of Americans still waiting to be evacuated at approximately 1,500.
