Today is Thursday, August 24th, 2023, and we begin with India's succeeding where Russia

failed.

Early yesterday morning, the unmanned Tindrayam 3 Rover made a picture-perfect lunar landing,

not just anywhere on the moon, but at its south pole, which is a first for any nation ever.

Mission Control celebrated the successful touchdown of Vikram and Pragyan, its two space robots,

by proudly announcing India is on the moon.

They'll now explore the terrain, which according to the New York Times has water ice that

could be a resource for future missions.

Only four countries in total can say they've successfully reached the moon's rocky surface,

and this try was actually India's second.

Four years ago, an attempted landing ended in a crash, much like Russia's Luna 25 mission,

which flamed out this past Saturday.

Sometimes taking a cable car to school is not as fun as it ought to be.

Shortly after eight kids and adults got into a gondola in Northern Pakistan on Tuesday,

two of the three lines carrying them snapped.

According to the Associated Press, the group was left dangling and swinging at a 45-degree

angle, a thousand feet above a remote mountainous area.

According to NBC News, what followed was an intense 12-hour rescue mission that involved

commando's repelling from helicopters, high winds adding to the drama, and all of it

live streamed around the world.

In the end, all were rescued safe and sound.
