And we begin with one nutty 911 call.

A man in Germany frantically dialed police because a baby squirrel

wouldn't stop tailing him. Even when officers arrived it was still in hot

pursuit. They finally managed to corral the critter at which point it promptly

fell asleep from all the exercise. As it turns out the little squirrel wasn't

looking to do harm and had simply lost track of its mom and decided the German homeowner was a solid backup.

Here's a guy who's never been a backup. The former San Francisco Giants left fielder Barry Bonds just had his number retired which means no one on that team will ever wear number 25 again

Bonds is the 10th giant to receive the honor and the only one not in Baseball's Hall of Fame.

The reason many people believe he became a bigger and better player by cheating,

by taking banned substances rather than by working hard.

For the first time in weeks,

California firefighters are reporting good news.

Not only is Yosemite National Park expected to reopen to visitors tomorrow,

but cooler temperatures and lower winds are helping them make progress on the other 11 big

wildfires still burning. An interesting footnote, smoke from those fires has

traveled 3,000 miles all the way across the country to New York City. It's pretty hard to get an F in spelling, but one university managed to do it.

For six years, Colorado Mesa had a typo on its diplomas, worse still no one noticed the word

board B-O-A-R-D as in Board of Trustees since 2012 the documents read

court with a C.

The school blames a cut-and-pace problem.

The error affected more than 9,000 diplomas, which will be replaced if the students ask.
