Hi everybody, it's Joe Lample, the Joe Behind Joe Gardner, and welcome to the Joe Gardner

Show.

Today, I want to bring you a few steps closer to either developing or strengthening your

love and appreciation for native plants.

Selfishly, I guess, in the hopes that you'll add at least one or more in your garden

sometime soon, and then keep adding after that.

And we'll certainly talk more about why that's important during this podcast.

And on that note, I thought it would be interesting and highly appropriate to do that

with one of the key staff members at Mount Cuba Center.

Why is that relevant?

Because Mount Cuba Center is the premier public garden in all of America, created primarily

to showcase native plants in their natural environment.

This at the stage, Mount Cuba Center was a former private estate of the DuPont family,

which eventually became a public garden when the owner and avid native plant enthusiasts

Pamela Copeland passed away.

Her desire was that her home and garden could become a place to showcase native plants

in their natural habitat and do so in a highly inspiring way.
