Answering a question today that a reader left on my Facebook wall. His name is Ignacio Puyo Bessa

and he left this question.

Good day Dr Taylor.

I hope all was well with you.

I have a question for you.

This is an excerpt from a conversation I had with someone regarding your book,

The crucified rabbi. The person says, all I'm saying is that Taylor said

Jesus was not a descendant of Aaron, and if that were true, Jesus wouldn't be

qualified to be the Messiah. By the way, it's through Mary's genealogy that he's related

to Aaron. Do you have any comments? Have a great one. So Ignacio thanks for this

great question, this objection that someone had after reading the crucified

rabbi and I think it's worth noting that's why I wanted to make a little tiny

podcast here just a few minutes looking at this question of Mary's

genealogical status, whether she's a Levi, whether she's a

Judi, and whether this matters. Of course, both Matthew's Gospel and Luke's Gospel begin with a genealogy tracing the lineage of Christ

back to King David and from King David to Judah.

And this is important because all the prophecies of the Old Testament

relate that the Messiah is going to come from the tribe of Judah

and that the Messiah must be a descendant of King David. Now this idea that the Blessed

Virgin Mary must be a Levite or an Aronite, this is not the first time I've heard

...
