And we begin this morning with park officials making the decision they were hoping to avoid, closing Yosemite. The wildfire that's been

burning for weeks now is still outside the park, but the smoke that was a nuisance

before is now choking the valley and considered dangerous for tourists and employees.

The park will be off limits for at least three more days,

which means more than 1,000 people who had made campground and hotel reservations are out of luck.

It may be a little too soon to grab your suit and towel, but the news is exciting nonetheless. Italian researchers believe they've found a lake on Mars.

It's about 14 miles across and is located under the southern polar cap.

They used radar waves bounced back to a spacecraft to figure out that it's most likely liquid, not frozen.

If confirmed, it would be the largest body of water on Mars and a potential starting point to find life on the red planet.

Lassie would be proud but not surprised.

New research shows that man's best friend not only knows when you're sad, but will overcome

obstacles to try to comfort you.

To test the theory, scientists put dogs on one side of a door held closed by magnets, their owners on the other.

Dogs that heard their masters crying opened the door three times faster than dogs that

heard them humming.
