Good morning and welcome to Kidnews Summer Style.

In March, the gloves came off between Utah and social media companies.

That's when the state became the first in the nation to set a curfew on scrolling, starting

next March, anyone under 18 will be barred from the likes of TikTok, Snapchat and Instagram

between 10.30pm and 6.30am.

The new law also requires permission from parents to create an account, block social media companies

from using addictive features, and makes it easier for families to sue if they think their

kids were harmed by the content.

After signing the bill, Governor Spencer Cox tweeted,

We are no longer willing to let social media companies continue to harm the mental health

of our youth.

The impacted companies are expected to try and block the laws before they take effect.

Texas, Ohio, and New Jersey are considering similar crackdowns.
