Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Kim. Today is Wednesday July 10th 2019.

And we begin with New York City celebrating the World Cup win of the US Women's

soccer team with a massive ticker tape parade through the

Canyon of Heroes. Tens of thousands of soccer fans are descending on the

stories stretch of Broadway that runs from City Hall to Battery Park in Lower Manhattan

to watch as Megan Rapino, Alex Morgan, Rose Lavelle, and the rest of the team

basked in their glory and received keys to the city.

But the victory lap is far from over.

The team will hop on a plane right after today's parade to jet to Los Angeles for tonight's

Espy Awards honoring the year's best athletes and achievements.

Joining the soccer champions, quarterback Drew Breeze, gymnast Simone Biles, and top

NBA draft pick, Zion Williamson. A man whose name you've probably never heard of is topping political

headlines this morning. Ross Perot, a self-made Texas billionaire who twice ran

for president in the 1990s passed away yesterday.

Perot was the first to shake up the election process as an outsider, meaning he had no

political experience and wasn't affiliated with either major party.

His folksy catchphrase, I'm Ross, you're the boss, helped him win 19% of the vote

when he ran as an independent against President George H.W. Bush and his Democratic

challenger Bill Clinton in 1992. Another bid four years later wasn't quite as successful.

Perome made his money in computers.

Some call him the Bill Gates of the 1960s.

Mr. Perot isn't the only billionaire making political news.
