Case out of Oregon, there is this woman, Nancy Crampton Brophy, who is an author.

She's a romance author.

And she wrote a couple of essays, one entitled, How to Murder Your Husband, and also the Wrong Husband, a couple of novels were the wrong husband and the wrong

lover. And you put two, y'all three of them together and guess what? A husband of hers dies, her husband,

her current husband, is killed.

He was a chef and a teacher at the Oregon Culinary Institute, so he was pretty accomplished.

And he was shot twice in the kitchen of the institute.

And she said, no, not me. Of course, the case attracted a ton of attention

because she had written those books and articles years before the crime, how to murder your

husband. Hmm. And she said in a post, which is since deleted, the thing I know about murder is that

every one of us has it in him or her when pushed far enough. So she listed a number of ways

how to commit the murder. Guns, nyes, poison, hitmen. Before writing, it is easier to wish

people dead than to actually kill them. Now, if the murder is supposed to set me free, I certainly

don't want to spend any time in jail.

Well, needless to say, she was arrested for murder. She argued the essay shouldn't come in.

And a judge actually ruled for her because it was actually written years earlier as part of a writing seminar, but prosecutors

didn't really need the text. They argue that she had the motive, the means to murder,

her husband, showing that the couple had fallen on hard times financially, and she stood to pocket a really

hefty insurance payout after he died. So there was enough there, but that was just that one

article, how to murder your husband. Everything else was allowed in. So guess what? She is,
